Dr Chris Blyth, one of Australia's leading authorities on infectious diseases in kids, puts paediatric flu under the microscope.

This topical 25 minute tour of influenza in children covers clinical presentation and morbidity, the significance of neurological presentations, management strategies and the role of antivirals, prevention, the impact of national vaccination programs and the risk of pandemics.

Chris is a Paediatric Infectious Diseases Physician at Perth Children’s Hospital and Clinical Microbiologist with PathWest. In addition, he is director of the Wesfarmers Centre for Vaccines and Infectious Diseases at Telethon Kids Institute and Associate Professor of Paediatrics at University of Western Australia. He is also chair of the Australian Technical Advisory Group on Immunisation, the peak scientific immunisation committee providing advice to the Commonwealth Department of Health and a NHMRC Career Development Fellow. His research and policy work focuses on vaccine preventable disease, particularly those causing acute respiratory infection in children.
