In this keynote presentation from PAC 2018, Prof. Kate Curtis introduces a major study of paediatric trauma in New South Wales evaluating existing care pathways, their impact on health outcomes – and what we can learn and change at a systems and clinical level from the results.

This session was nominated as the Toni Medcalf Oration at PAC 2018, in memory of the much-loved APLS instructor and emergency paediatrician.

 Speaker biography:
Kate has been an Emergency Nurse since 1994 and is currently the Nurse Consultant for Emergency at Illawara Shoalhaven Local Health District. Kate is Professor of Emergency and Trauma Nursing at the University of Sydney and an honorary professorial fellow at the George Institute for Global Health. Kate's translational research program focuses on improving the way we deliver care to patients and their families, and has attracted more than $3 million funding. Kate is the world's most published author in the field of Trauma and Emergency Nursing and has mentored more than 40 clinicians in research projects.
